Dorothy Fink, MD

Deputy Director, NICHD

Dorothy Fink, MD, is Deputy Director of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Her federal leadership experience includes serving as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health and Acting Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Board certified in endocrinology, internal medicine, and pediatrics, Dr. Fink is also a nationally certified menopause practitioner. Her work spans maternal and infant health, reproductive health, menopause, diabetes, and osteoporosis.

She earned her medical degree at Georgetown University, completed her internal medicine and pediatrics residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and trained in endocrinology and metabolism at Columbia University. Her experience also includes medical education and clinical care at New York University, the Hospital for Special Surgery, and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

The Institute for Surgical Excellence Healthcare Scholars Program creates meaningful opportunities for students from Northeast Florida to explore healthcare, learn from accomplished mentors, and help solve the challenges facing healthcare today.
